We are currently working on an integration with Expensify so that you can track you SaaS spend in BetterCloud as part of our Discover product.

We were curious:

  1. How do you keep track of what expenses are considered SaaS?
  2. Do you use tags or categories?
  3. How strictly do you enforce your end users to use the correct tagging / categorization?

For us, IT is a department/tag and SaaS is a sub category. We are a fairly small team so the individual that manages expenses makes sure things are tagged appropriately and then if any users other than myself charge anything to IT I get a monthly report to approve the expenses

Thank you, Ryan! This is such helpful context! Follow up question - do you use any "Classifications" or the open text "Description" for tracking in addition?

We have a specific CC that we use for all SaaS spend.

-We use Tags to classify departments.

-I in IT am the one that creates those monthly expense reports from the imported CC statement so it is up to me to continue with the correct tagging/categorization to allow for better reporting.

Thank you, @janson.williams!  We are working to see if we can integrate with the tags to allow you to see expense data in BetterCloud.
