Farewell, Internet Explorer (in 2022). Any favorite memories of using it?

Microsoft is officially not supporting IE in 2022. What are your favorite memories of using it? I’m pretty sure I created my first livejournal in IE, which is fun to think about since I write for a living now!

I remember updating to IE4 back in October 1997. The update was 34MB and took hours to download on my 56K modem. I waited until my parents were out so I could use the phone line uninterrupted and I was terrified it would fail. The last 2MB of downloading was terrifying.

I used IE pretty exclusively back in the late 90s, when my dad insisted that Compuserve was our best option for dial up. Bringing up cable internet in my house was a good way to get grounded. :joy:

Hopefully all the .gov sites get updated to work with Chrome or Firefox. Right now we only use IE when accessing those sites.
