I've noticed more and more job listings on LinkedIn and #job-openings have excluded salary/pay expectations up front although some tout transparency being a core value. Is that still taboo? I've read conflicting articles that say that barrier should be taken down. Thoughts or opinions?
Does anyone have any plans or thoughts on how you’re going to adjust your office technology setup for more hybrid in-person/remote work?
I know some orgs are talking about what returning to the office might look like. Does anyone have any plans or thoughts on how you’re going to adjust your office technology setup for more hybrid in-person/remote work? more small meeting rooms? changing white boards for smart boards? different conference room a/v setup?
I would love your thoughts on which one I should tackle first: change primary domain or roll out Okta SSO
Good morning! I just started a new role and the company does not have SSO, we are also looking to change the primary domain as well. That being said, I would love your thoughts on which one I should tackle first. knowing they are both going to break many things. Would you do the domain change first or would you implement Okta first?
Anyone have a particular practice they follow for users that go on extended leave, like mat or pat leave?
Anyone have a particular practice they follow for users that go on extended leave, like mat or pat leave? Do you make the effort to cut access and then reinstate upon return? Do you suspend access? trying to figure out a best practice.
i think we covered this briefly during one of the earlier SOLVE when we discussed DMARC. how have you guys dealt with getting around SPF lookup limits? is dynamic SPF offering (like that of ondmarc) the way to go? or can you use CNAME and TXT and manage your own?🗨 Link to Slack thread
Funny timing. We just chatted about whether or not most people could do their jobs on Chromebooks. Fast Company profiled a startup that’s building a web browser from scratch and hopes that it’ll make web apps run smoothly on cheap hardware. Would you consider switching if it lives up to that promise?
Can you believe it’s been 10 years since we saw the first Chromebook? Me neither. Some IT leaders we’ve spoken to in the past have wondered if non-engineering folks should be provisioned Chromebooks. Our CEO has posed the same question. What do you think? Could most people get by with something like a Chromebook—and do you think they should be able to? Seems especially realistic for students and teachers.
I saw this story yesterday about the folks behind the SolarWinds mess being up to no good again. You might not be dealing with a SolarWinds-level issue (or at least I hope not), but is there anything you’d want to share that you’re currently dealing with at work and is causing some sleepless nights?
There’s a story floating around that the SolarWinds breach was caused by an intern who set a password to “solarwinds123” and then shared it on GitHub. I doubt anyone has made this big of a mistake, but we’ve all made mistakes, right? Brave enough to share yours?
Hello! I am not very knowledgeable in this area and am asking on behalf of one of my teammates... Is there a preferred purchasable bulk list of malicious IP addresses to block? If so, via which company? We are aware of places such as ipqualitychecker, and blocked.com. Are there others? Thanks!!
Google launched a bunch of new WFH-oriented updates to Workspace today. Some of them are neat, especially Google Assistant for Workspace. But if you could ask for anything that doesn’t already exist, what would those features be?
There have been a few books published by members of the SaaSOps Community:The Life Sciences IT Survival Guide by @nmcbride Okta Administration: Up and Running by @henkjanvries & @lovisa.stenbacken-stj (there may be very well be more that I’m not aware of)Aside from these, do you have any must-read books you recommend to others in the IT/SaaSOps field?
Do you have any recommendations for vacation tracking? I am not looking for anything fancy like a full-blown HRIS or integration with payroll system. User authentication (SAML or OAuth) would be nice. Primarily looking forAnnual allotment per employee Request and Approve process Ability to sync to shared Google calendar for approved vacations Basic math operations (number of week days between two dates minus any statutory holidays) Ability to automatically update statutory holidays would be a bonus, or do things like (1st Monday of February, etc.) rather than date that falls on a particular date, which may fall on a weekend. Vacation carry over from one year to the next.We could probably figure something out using AppSheet, but it will probably take some time to get there.
