Not sure where this should go, so I’m posting here:
Looking for ideas to provide employees with a self-service portal to purchase the standard set of peripherals we provide everyone (keyboard, mouse or trackpad, display, etc.). Since going full remote, and starting to scale aggressively, ordering and drop shipping from Amazon for every new hire is becoming a PITA.
I’m starting to look at CDW’s portal, and maybe even Amazon Business. Just wondering what others have done.

I have done both CDW and Amazon and each has their pros and cons. I liked Amazon’s the best because of all of the other things I could add to the bundle options. Worked out great plus we get to take all of the advantages of prime shipping.

@nmcbride Thanks for the info. Did you integrate SSO with Amazon?
We already have Amazon Business Prime, but it’s not clear if I add SSO will that apply to all our users

Yep - using SSO through Google

@emax Amazon biz for my org too w/ Okta SSO. Works well for us for the following reasons:
1. User familiarity (i.e. not many questions/issues with UI/UX)
2. IT & Office teams have full visibility
3. Easy order tracking
4. Stock surplus
5. Global accessibility
Full disclosure, I'm also a long time customer of CDW, but would not recommend as a front-end for end-users -- just my opinion.

We're in the process of setting up amazon business via Google workspace saml

This would be good to know how people are doing this - I’ve never had the volume to get to this point with a vendor so I’m curious if there’s other things. How are you adding users? I also don’t mind creating pre-made kits and just plugging in their address (or making HR do this) if people have this set up as well?

We have a couple of standard kits:
• Engineers, Designers, Finance: 16" MBP, 27" 4k display, keyboard, mouse or trackpad, cables/hub/etc.
• Everyone else: MBA, 13" MBP, or older 15" MBP, 27" HD display, same peripherals as above
Laptops are easy to deploy.

The rest of the kit I’ve been drop-shipping via Amazon. Some users opt not to receive some or all of the extras, so there’s that. Then there’s the choice of mouse vs. trackpad.

This isn’t scaling for us, so I’m trying to find a self-service option that makes everyone happy. Honestly, if I’d thought to go self-serve with Amazon years ago, it would have be a good thing.

Covers repairs and retrieval when they leave the company, and access to the platform of course

Idk if I am going to use them, but I did put in for a quote. They seem to be able to carry anything we want so we shall see. Dealing with remote employee hardware is getting to be a pain so I might go with them

I talked with Firstbase and felt their lease option was overpriced, found their sales people pushy too albeit very friendly but thats somewhat typical with many companies.

@travis500 Interesting. I should be getting pricing today, I will see what they give me. How long ago did you talk to them? Wondering if maybe they are changing things up since they are new
